Netflix has announced its first price increase in two years for UK subscribers.
Users of the ubiquitous streaming service, now available on nearly every connected device, will face an increase if they take the standard or premium plan.
The standard UK plan, which includes HD content, has increased by 50p to £7.99 a month. The premium plan, which enables up to four users to access the service simultaneously and also offers Ultra HD content, rises by £1 to £9.99 a month.
For new customers, the new price is charged after the current promotional first month free is over. Existing Netflix subscribers will receive 30 days notice before moving to the increased rates.
Basic access - which allows for standard definition access on one screen - remains at £5.99 a month.
