Coaxial cable is made up from a centre core, an air spaced or foam insulator a metallic shield and plastic sheath most now include an extra screening foil. .The benefit of coaxial cable is that is that it can be run alongside metal objects without interference. Different designs of cable are available depending on the application and performance required. Cables are generally foam filled making the cable less prone to kinking or compressing thus reducing signal reflection issues.
There are several type of coaxial available:
WF65 0.6mm core double screened twin coax cable (Aluminium or copper) - Used for Sky and Freesat PVR installations in runs up to 20m.
RG6 1.0mm core double screened (Aluminium) - Used for satellite or RF installations in short runs.
WF100 1.0mm core double screened (Copper) - Used for satellite or RF installation in long runs.
HD100 1.0mm core triple screened (Copper) - Very high quality cable used for satellite and RF in long runs.
1.25 to 3.4mm core WF125, WF165 and WF233 cables are used for very long cable runs.

Some manufacturers have cable ranges with low smoke and fume ratings that maybe required for communal installations. There are cables that can be buried directly into the ground. Several manufacturers offer cables in different colour or in multi core cable ideal for IRS systems.
