3DTV is now available to those with Sky who subscribe to their 3D channel. Xbox and PS3 gamers with games that have a 3D mode and Bluray Movies in 3D. Their are also some European channels broadcasting in 3D including the adult channels Elite Fusion TV and Hustler 3D.

There are several ways to display 3D, Anaglyphic which uses the old red and cyan glasses, Autostereoscopic, aka Lenticular which is a glasses free 3D solution, which is still a developing technology for domestic screens, Autostereoscopic is a little price prohibitive for most people at this point with TV coming in at around $20,000, so it’s only really viable for commercial use.
The two main 3D technologies for domestic use are Polarization, which uses two opposite polarizing filters to send a different image to each eye, on the plus side the polarized glasses are cheap as there are no electronics to deal with, the downside is the 3D is not High Definition. Polarization technology is improving and we will see Full HD 3D within the next couple of years as Samsung has licensed the RealD RDZ system which will be incorporated in the next generation of 3D televisions, incidentally the same system that your local cinema multiplex uses.
